Waihi Beach Attractions and Activities
The purest form of Waihi Beach attractions are to walk the beautiful 9kms of golden white sandy beach. Here the waters are safe for swimming and patrolled at both ends of the beach.
Swim and surf or paddle board in the waves, a popular beach well known for surfers, with the option of the harbour at Athenree or Bowentown heads for picnicking and relaxing, or wind surfing and canoeing.
Or maybe travel through to the Karangahake Gorge where there are a range of tracks and different legs of the Hauraki Rail trail. The trail winds along the picturesque Waikino gorge which is rich in history and beauty.
There are many walks in the Waihi Beach area with stunning coastal views and beautiful bush tracks for different levels of fitness.
Walk to Orokawa Bay from the northern end of Waihi beach or continue on to Homunga Bay for a picnic in a peaceful setting. Other walks include the Reservoir Loop walk or the Trig walk both at the northern end of Waihi beach.
Waihi Beach attractions include the many modern boutique shops in the village. Shop for the latest fashion, fabulous home ware and gifts or check out the creativity at the art gallery featuring local artists.
