Sustainability

In 2021 we adopted the Tourism Industry Aotearoa Sustainable Tourism Commitment, and continue to work towards developing and fulfilling our plan for this commitment.

This includes our everyday recycling practices of all rubbish, soaps, coffee capsules, using reusable shopping bags, eco friendly cleaners, carbon neutral photocopy paper,  low energy linen providers for our laundry service, solar heating for our swimming pool, and LED lights.

We use Honeybee wrap covers in place of gladwrap, glass jars and bottles for milk and homemade spreads, and recyclable rubbish bag liners all reducing our waste.

In 2022 we were part of the Waihi Beach/Katikati Green Room Project, a 12 week Sustainability commitment in partnership with Tourism Industry Aotearoa, to further develop our Sustainability Plan and Actions.

We are always looking for improvements and welcome any suggestions you may have.

We encourage you to also play your part in the way you use our precious energy and water supplies.

The Tiaki Promise has a set of guiding principles for visitors to follow,

Tiaki means to care for people and place.

By following the Tiaki Promise, we all are making commitment to New Zealand. To act as a guardian, protecting and preserving our home.

Nau Mai, Haere Mai Ki Aotearoa, Welcome to New Zealand
